Week 5: 73.4 (-1.8kg)

Very happy with the 9.4kgs loss. I so wish I took a before shot but I hate photos of myself and rather be behind the camera.

Back to baking cupcakes (so hard not to have one tonight!)

Temptation coming up?

I'm just in the process of organising my son's 7th birthday party for this coming sunday. I'm catering for 19 kids and plan on not buying ready made food but to get it all together myself.

Jason's birthday invitation - had fun designing this one

The menu I've came up is:

Turkish sticks with ham, cheese and pineapple
fruit kebab sticks
sausage rolls
sm shaved ham, cabanossi, block cheese, carrot, celery sticks platter with hommus dip
white chocolate crackles
meatballs
sandwiches
pikelets
Jam and cream sponge birthday cake and cupcakes

It's going to be fun getting some of this together on Saturday and can only just imagine the smells but just have to be strong. I have found it easy not to have the kids leftovers by just saying no and remembering the reasons why I am doing this in the first place and the gorgeous clothes I'm going to buy when I get to my goal weight, but, the biggest main reason is for my health and to prevent problems that could arise from being overweight.

My routine

I was asked if I cheat on the program and a bit about my routine. I do cheat but the way I'm doing the program is to be strict with it from Monday to Friday and by the time my weigh in is on the Saturday morning, I treat this day as my no TF day. I will eat what I want but only in small quantities. I still won't eat eat breads, pasta, rice etc but if I feel like a slice of pizza, I will eat it without any guilt or even have a night out with a few drinks.

One thing I do keep up everyday is the 2 litres of water, I feel water is one of the most important elements of the program that really does help you lose weight.

My typical day on the program, Monday to Friday:

8am - shake
10am - 2 medium sized plums
12pm - shake and sometimes a bowl of garden salad
2pm - apple
5pm - protein and vegetables
I snack throughout the day on 15 almonds and drink 2 litres of water

My treats are the skinny cow icecream (hard to have just one of those!) and you can have two a week. By Saturday, I get weighed in then go and get a skinny cappucino, go home and have bacon and eggs for breakfast. Lunch might be a salad but I'm usually full from breakfast and then whatever the family feels like for dinner I might have a small amount of it. By Sunday, I may have a shake for breakfast and usually by the evening I'm hopping on the treadmill for a run. I also am doing cardio each early evening on the weekdays which will also help with the weightloss and on those nights you can have extra protein and another piece of fruit.

Week 5 weigh in

Starting weight: 82.8kg

Week 1: 80.8 (-2.0kg)
Week 2: 79.4 (-1.4kg)
Week 3: 78.5 (-0.9kg)
Week 4: 76.3 (-2.2kg)
Week 5: 75.2 (-1.1kg)

Current weight: 75.2kg

My 1.1kg lost for the week has given me a total lost 7.6 kilos. After my couple of treat nights during the week I thought that wasn't too bad at all. Meeting up with the girls today for lunch, I will probably choose the stir fry vegetables with tofu and oyster sauce and yes, pass on the rice.

I have ordered some new clothes and for the first time I didn't choose the large size. I'm finding lots of my large clothes are not sitting right on me and look bulky which gives me a great excuse to buy new clothes.

My running on the treadmill is up to 15min's. That is a big achievement for me and can't wait to be running half an hour non stop. Look forward to the Biggest Loser tonight especiallg the weigh in. I accidently came across a photo of the final 4! But I won't reveal who I saw - will say they look amazing as they always do by the end of the season. Love the last night when they all come back showing their amazing body transformations.

A Confession

Last Saturday night went to the Rhianna concert (amazing with VIP standing) and did really well all day and when the concert ended we ended up in the city at a club and had quite a few drinks. By the time it came to 2.30am the hunger set in and just had to have that kebab and a few hot chips, oh boy! It tasted great LOL I did check myself the next morning and my weight didn't budge from the previous day. I'm putting it all down to all the dancing we did which was non stop for 3-4 hours.

Rhianna was so close to us - photo taken by Alisha Boyd
Tuesday was my wedding anniversary and we went to see Billy Connolly in concert. It was pretty good, he had me in fits of laughter most of the time. At least that is something that can be crossed of the Bucket List... Rhianna and Billy :) My husband and I went to a dinner buffet but eating out has made me more aware of food choices. Instead of going for the bread, soup and then a big serving of mains with deserts, I just went for some meat, lots of vegetables and skipped on the desert. I was so proud of myself.

Tonight I ran 10mins non stop for the first time. I'm finding it amazing how easy it was (this is from a person who didn't do no running at all a couple of months ago) I'm still doing my 30mins 3 days a week and Zumba on two days. I had finally picked up some proper shoes for the dancing and now my ankle has stopped hurting. I can feel the pressure has eased up heaps now.

Looking forward to the weigh in on Saturday, I have a feeling that I might be under the grams lost and not kilos or maybe I might just break even after my big week, we'll see.

Weigh in day

6.5kgs gone in 4 weeks!!!!

Weighing in this morning recorded a 2.2kg loss for the week, I am so happy with the result so far. I'm getting to that stage where I'm starting to feel really good about myself and even starting to enjoy wearing clothes again. My biggest achievement was getting into my boardshorts and rashie that wouldn't even do up 2 months ago my confidence level with trying back on clothes that didn't fit and now is sitting nicely on me is amazing.

People are starting to notice at work that I'm losing weight, everytime I do its always around the bust area that goes down which is fine by me.

I bought a gorgeous top and the ultimate fit black boot pants from Katies (they are fantastic and feel so comfortable).

What I should of done in the first place, but here is my stats (I will post it up every Saturday after weigh in):

Starting weight: 82.8kg

Week 1: 80.8 (-2.0kg)
Week 2: 79.4 (-1.4kg)
Week 3: 78.5 (-0.9kg)
Week 4: 76.3 (-2.2kg)

Current weight: 76.3kg

Tgotal Loss: 6.5k

Over the mid week hump

I've done Zumba two nights in a row now and can really feel it! My calf is aching and I'm just feeling buggered. With Zumba, a lot of time I'm not up for it, especially after a long day at work but I do remember that great feeling I get once I've completed it.

The last few days I've been experiencing headaches. They are not painful, just a slight ache mostly in the afternoons. Maybe my body is still adjusting to the diet, I will ask my consultant next time I got back on Saturday for my weigh in.  It's all still going good, still sticking to it... because of the extra cardio exercises I'm doing everyday, I've been eating extra protein, not a huge lot. Sometimes its just some extra ham after the workout or maybe just a boiled egg. My water consumption has jumped up heaps because of it too.

One thing I had been enjoying was almonds. I forgot just how good they tasted as I haven't had them since I was little. We can have 30grams of almonds (which turns out to be 10-15) each day because of the good fats it contains. I did make the mistake of buying roasted almonds but after a couple of days I checked the website and it was mean't to be raw, oops! You can also have brazil nuts, but I've never tried them.

I need to get the cookbook out again to work out some more yummy dinners. Instead I've been stuck searching through other cookbooks trying to get a menu plan together for my son's 7th birthday party in two weeks. Had lot of fun designing his invitation with him being a huge Star Wars fan. I will post a copy up tomorrow.

Only 9.14pm and already thinking of sleeping. So on that note, good night :)

Another loss for the week

Yesterday I registered a 0.9g loss, bringing my total to 4.3kgs gone in 3 weeks!!

I had a good day, after weigh in I got my treat at Aroma, small skinny Cappacino with a sweetner. Milk is starting to taste a little funny though, the aftertaste stays with me for a while. Yesterday was also my day of rest from the treadmill and allow myself to relax a lot more. For lunch I defrosted a TF wrap and cooked up a couple of slices of bacon and an egg. It wasn't too bad, the wrap did taste a bit like cardboard but it did the trick. We had a bbq yesterday evening so sat down to a lovely sausage and salad meal.

This morning I made the kids a batch of toast with all their favourite spreads and stood there smelling it all in LOL

Tonight is my Biggest Loser night on the treadmill. That's been my biggest motivation, its what got me doing this in the first place.

Friday already?!

I had only realised that I last posted on Tuesday. This week certainly went by quickly (for me that is). All is still good, I enjoyed a nice chicken and heaps of salad for dinner tonight and wash it down with an allowable cup of caffeine and sugar free coke. At the start I really struggles to get two litres of water a day down, but now finding a lot easier and have a real thirst for it but that's probably because of the exercise. It will be interesting to see if I lose quicker as back on the program in 07 I did no exercise and still managed to lose that 19 kilos in five months.

I have been doing cardio everyday with my two nights a week of Zumba and on the treadmill on the other days in which I have been doing some running programs. I can feel myself getting fitter as I have been running longer each time and its starting to feel awesome when I've finish.

Weigh in is tomorrow so I'm going to sign off til then and hopefully there will be some loss for all the hard work with sticking with the program.

So until then, goodnight!!

Steak Sandwich night

Tonight I had a steak sandwich and it was yum! No, I haven't gone back to packing on the carbs it was a fake steak sandwich. We had 120g steak, onion, mushrooms, roasted capsicum and roasted eggplant cut into two slices, which made up the bread. I did slice up some tomatoes and had lettuce in the fridge but got so excited about eating it, I left it out, but will definitely add it next time. I got the recipe from the TF website (http://www.tonyferguson.com.au/weight-loss-recipes.aspx)

Here is a pic:

Steak Sandwich
All the flavours went so well together and would be the perfect meal to make the next time having a barbeque.

Last night was Zumba night, this time around I took my heartrate watch because I was curious as to what kind of heartrate were the routines, most of them was around 140 - 150bpm. I think for my height/weight its around 140bpm for fat burning.

This afternoon I did my usual program P6 program. I can feel myself getting better at running now and will be interested to see if I can do at least 10mins of running but for now I'm going to just keep it at 7kph every 3mins. I'm hoping to be closer to 5.0kg weight loss, I've certainly been watching everything I've been eating and doing my cardio workouts each day. I will be happy with any loss, it will be a gain that would be dissapointing but my motivation is very high at this moment and has been for the last couple of weeks.

Ok, off to read my book before I crash

Goodnight!
